fashionably late
ok so both pictures are SO out of focus however i really like the ideas behind them. even though they aren't completely clear i feel like you can still get a mood or feeling from them. As the project progresses i can retake these pictures and maybe create a better understanding of the mood with that improvement
progress check
This is my light source picture so far. I like this picture, but I am working on replacing it with a better image.

@wading_deep
Follow the clear ripples in the water
Wade in the water deep, be submerged
Once completed, the water will restore
Water is ice, water is a bright fire
This water will cleanse and make us anew
Exit the water, then dry your wet skin
Touch it softly, feel the fire and ice
Your skin is alive, your heart is brand new
Poem
Light a match.
Look at the fire and examine it.
Take a photo of the fire,
and burn it with that fire.

Jaida Sanders Poem
Go around the world collecting flowers
leave your mark on the flower you collect
put the flower back five feet from the initial place you found
it
you may not collect the same flower
your mark must be different also
narrow this down from world to country
country to city
city to town
town to home
until you have completed all the places in the world
you must collect at least three dandelions and make a wish and blow it into a different place from where you found it

Shadow Poem
Find your shadow.
claim it.
don't let it stray from you.
find other shadows.
but don't let your shadow stray from you.
Follow your shadow around and see what it does.
don't let it get away from you.
Find your shadow.
claim it.
don't let it stray from you.
find other shadows.
but don't let your shadow stray from you.
Follow your shadow around and see what it does.

Object Piece
Pick a single object a day for 365 days in a row.
Choose an important object - an object that has meaning.
Put the objects in a box, and place the box in a dark closet.
Do not go in the closet, other than to put other objects in the box.
At the end of the year, gather all of the objects.
Throw away the ones representing good parts of your life,
and keep the ones representing bad parts of your life.
Put the bad objects in a place that can be seen by everyone.

my poem
When a friend is sad, take a piece of yourself and share it with them.
When you are sad, accept a piece of them that they are sharing with you.
If when you are sad and they decide not to share, take the happiest piece of yourself and double it.
When you are sad, accept a piece of them that they are sharing with you.
If when you are sad and they decide not to share, take the happiest piece of yourself and double it.

Stranger Piece
Take a look at a stranger. Sit next to them.
Ask them how they got there.
Give them whatever is in your hands and do not speak.
Leave them to where they are going but meet the stranger again soon.
When you meet, speak. Ask them how they are.
They will give you what is in their hands.

I like this image technically and compositionally. The lines on the stomach provide really beautiful movement. Initially I thought the image was of sheets but that's what I like the most, it really makes you think and peice the image together to figure out it is a stomach. In addition I like the framing of the image, it cuts of the stomach perfectly to provide the least amount of detail which keeps you drawn to the image. Lastly I think the lighting is really beautiful and creative, though it is very dark the blue effect gives the the stomach a lot of definition which adds to everything else to make this image successful.

I chose this photo because the girl is stuck in a box. It represents the emotional state of being trapped in a box, portrayed in actually showing it. I like how the photographer chose not to show the girls face. It shows how she is trapped and (I think) that she can't find herself. This photo, when I see it, is a much deeper photo which drew my attention to it.

I like this photo because of the lighting that cancels out the background and brings focus to the light bulb. The lighting also creates shadows which adds to the monochromatic photo. I like the movement that the lighting creates, moving from dark to light. The positioning of the objects in contrast with the lighting allows the picture to still be compositionally pleasing without having everything centered. The lighting and dull colors help to create a mood that is conveyed in the photo.

gallery - katie cofran
I like this photo because it can be interpreted so many different ways. When I first saw this picture, I assumed that the girl inside the "bubble" felt distant from the world around her. I think that the darkness at the bottom of the picture makes the picture seem more intense because the girl is trying to escape but can't. The brightness on the other side of the trees, barely showing through, creates a sense of hope for the girl trapped in the bubble. I think that this picture was planned out very well and executed very nicely.
gallery chair picture
I think the lines and slight color contrast in this image make it very successful. Also the shadow on the chair highlights the edge of the chair and the slits in between the shadow which create very satisfying lines which also curve a little to move your eye around the image. This movement is balanced because it draws your eyes to the right side of the image which has more of a gray tint, then your eye follows the light shadow over the chair to the darker left side and then back through the lighter parts of the back of the chair for a continuos movement. I really like how this image turns something very simple, a chair, into something complex using shadows. Overall I believe that the use of design properties and light tricks make this a very successful and satisfying image.

I like this photo because of the contrast between the white sheets and the dark shadows around the sheets. This photo gives off a dark vibe because of the shadows, yet it has a sense of light because of the lighter color of sheets. Also, I like the movement in the wrinkles of the sheets. I also like the emphasis of the pillow against the darker parts of the photo. Finally, I like the idea of taking a photo of a bed in a way that makes it look dark and cold instead of taking it in a way the makes it look light and warm.
mun post
This image appeals to me because of the textures of the images. When I see these images I can almost feel what they feel like. The colors of each image also helps set a mood that I can connect with. I think the second image could be brighter and the first image could be darker. This gives me the feeling of being groggy and sad but at the same time warm and comforted. The contrast between the two images makes the pairing really strong.
Gallery
I like this photo because of the lighting used to create shadows. The shadows are very expressive in what the picture is portraying. It gives a sense of entrapment, yet rebellion as the photo displays a girl pushing against a box. I also like how you can't see the girl's face. It gives the photo a feeling of ambiguity. Overall, I like this composition because it exhibits the different meanings that can come from a style of lighting.
bubbles
This was the most appealing photo in the gallery to me. I love how the colorful bubbles contrast with the darker colors in the picture. This photo makes the viewers think and question how the bubbles got into the photo and why they are there. The happy expression on the man's face makes him look like he is a kid again. The photographer was really able to capture how something different in an environment can change the people in the environment. At the same time, the bubble seems so random and so perfect to be in the photo.
BUBBLES
I picked this image from the gallery because of the colors in it. I love how mostly all of the picture is dark exept the bubble which has many colors in it. I also like how happy the man is in the picture because when I think of bubbles I think of happiness and the man is clearly very happy. Another thing I love about this picture is the background because I think it tells a story, the background is very sad yet the main focuses in the picture are happy. I think how it is not bright or sunny outside also helps the picture.

LIGHT BULB
I like this image because of the monochromatic feel of the white and gray tones. I also like the position of the hammer which gives a crashing feeling where you can almost hear the glass shattering. The lighting that is cascading over the image almost seems like it is shining through a window and not so much a lit room. The theme of the overall idea of lightbulb breaking symbolizes maybe an idea crashing or a dream being broken. Something I don't enjoy about the image is the red grip on the hammer which can be a little distracting once noticed. Overall I think this was a very strong image.

I chose this image by Emily Hosea because of the deep blue shade. I adore this lighting and the way it shows the delicate curves in the skin. It gives such an affluent yet delicate feeling, leaving the viewer with a completeness. I do believe this image exemplifies the property of design unity, from the changing patches of exposure and the singular hue. In addition, the composition itself in INCREDIBLE, for I believe the human body is so simple yet graceful.
gallery
I think the above image was very successful. I like the way the viewer has to look at the image closely and carefully in order to understand what is in it, even though the photo itself is very simple. After a close look, the viewer will be able to tell that the photo is of a human stomach. After coming to this realization, the parts of the stomach become very easy to see; they are very defined. Because of this, there is movement within the image...the viewer's eye will move from the belly button, to the crease in the bottom of the stomach, to the different shades of colors. The lighting in this photo was also very successful, because it highlights the pieces of the photo that contribute to the understanding of what is in this image. Overall, I think this image was successful because of its complexity yet simplicity, its movement, and its lighting.

door
I chose this image and forgot who it was photographed by. But this image spoke out to me because it reminded me of how hard people try to skip to next next open door or good thing in their lives instead of letting things play out. I also like the symmetry with the brown colors and how everything is grey and then two blocks of wood are directly across from each other in the image. I like how the door in this image has a dilapidated feeling. This image is really powerful in many ways and really speaks to me. That is why i chose this image.
Maddie Hane - gallery
I chose this image by Sydni Wynter because I like the contrast of the dark colors from the model and the white and grey colors from the background. I also find the line visually appealing because I like how it breaks up the image into two parts, but it isn't perfectly in the middle of the image. I think this image captures the light and dark of the world and how two things/people can contrast so much, but also compliment each other at the same time. The background and the model are cohesive because of the darker shadows coming for the object in the background. They are also cohesive because there is texture coming from the models hair and texture coming from the netting or fabric hanging for the art in the background.
